Paradox Interactive has announced today that former DICE Battlefield producer Gordon Van Dyke has joined the company as a Senior Producer. The publisher says that Van Dyke will be charged with leading the production of the online titles and developing new IP.

“Gordon brings a great amount of experience from working on the Battlefield series and Visceral. We are thrilled to welcome him to Paradox. Over the past couple of years we have been one of the fastest growing companies in the industry and Gordon will play a key role in our continued growth,” said Fredrik Wester, CEO of Paradox Interactive.

“I’m very excited to join the production team here at Paradox. Some really fortunate events led me to this amazing opportunity to work on projects that really speak to my inner gamer. I know it’s going to be an incredible journey and can’t wait to start right away on inspiring projects like Salem, Gettysburg: Armored Warfare, and Project Postman,” Gordon Van Dyke commented.

Ben Cousins of EA's Easy Studios has confirmed today that a new entry into the Battlefield franchise is to be announced tomorrow.

Speaking at EA's O2 Showcase in London, Cousins revealed little more than the fact that it's not a sequel but instead a "completely new title." However, his work with the free-to-play online game Battlefield Heroes is perhaps indicative of the new game's market.

Swedish developer DICE has kick-started the hype-r drive by promising "something great" at this year's Gamescom in Cologne, Germany.

Judging by recent events it's likely to be related to Battlefield 3, seeing as the multiplayer beta is to be packaged with the limited edition version of EA's Medal of Honor, but naturally, a faint whiff of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam, the highly sought-after expansion due out later this year, is never far from a nose.

Personally, I'd like to see something about Mirror's Edge 2.
