Dirt 3 Impressions
May 25th

I've been playing Dirt 3 on PC and Xbox 360 for the last couple of days and I have some mixed feelings about the game.
First the good.
The handling is great - a good blend of sim and arcade to make a playable and fun game. You'll believe you can drive a rally car, it's tricky without being overwhelming and just what you'd hope for in this sector of the market.
Graphics are very good on both formats I've tried. There's plenty of detail in the locations and cars and the action for the most part is very smooth. Replays look good, with the cars firmly planet on the road and the ability to upload short excerpts to YouTube is welcome.

Codemasters has announced that Dirt 3 will be released worldwide on May 24th 2011.
"DiRT 3 will boast more cars, more locations, more routes and more events than any other game in the series. With more than double the track content of 2009’s hit, players will enjoy a career as an elite professional driver, competing in off-road racing events featuring jaw-dropping damage and race-changing weather. DiRT 3 will feature the most amount of Rally content to feature in the series to date, accounting for 60% of its extensive career mode. With rally stages set across three continents, including the addition of all-new locations Finland, Kenya, Norway and Michigan, players will learn to master the conditions on tarmac, gravel and snow in dry and wet conditions for the most authentic rally experience."
The game is coming to PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Dirt 3 Dev Diary "Rally"
Nov 15th

After the jump, a Dirt 3 dev diary video from Codemasters.
Looks like all the criticism of Dirt 2 has paid off and there's going to be a stronger focus on Rally in the new game. 60 percent of the career will be based on the rally discipline. We're also told there will be 32 rally stages. I hope that's not the usual Codemasters bullshit and there's not just four stages chopped up into eight bits each.
