Mafia II Review
September 2nd, 2010 / Send feedback » / by Harry

Mafia came out of nowhere and showed how a city-based game should be done. Despite some awkward driving moments it has grown into a modern classic and the sequel has been highly anticipated.
But has it been worth the very long wait? Alas Graham doesn't think so, read on for his review.

Paradox Interactive continues to the be the go to publisher for the kind of epic strategy releases that are all too rare these days. Recently Hearts of Iron 3 showed how a real strategy war game should be.

Worms Reloaded Review

We've played a lot of variations of Worms over the years. From the epic earlier 2D games to the less-than-stella 3D incarnations. On something of a roll after the recent XBLA release - brining back the 2D worms with plenty of modern flare it's the PC's turn to get the same attention.
Today sees the release of Worms Reloaded via Steam. But the question is should you shell out for a game that's similar in many ways to the Worms you've annihilated before? The answer is yes, but for the reasons why you'll have to click through to Adam's review.
Commander: Conquest of America Review

Nitro Games' East India Company is a game I enjoyed, albeit with some reservations. Nitro Games certainly has hit on a winning formula for a naval strategy game - and with a few tweaks it could really create something special.
Commander: Conquest of America is the second game based on the East India Company concept and should solve any problems with the original game. Has is done so? Our resident strategy game expert Graham Clifford delved into the review code to find out.
Split Second Review

Ever seen the movie "Death Race"? Well it's a remake of another movie which is based on a book and the general premise is that the prison system is so overun that the prisoners are put into gladiator style races to the death. Split/Second is kind of like that, minus the downside of being in prison, and add the bonus of getting large amounts of money and seeing crazy explosions.
Split/Second: Velocity is a racing title from developer Black Rock Studio who you might know about if you bought Pure another racing title. The game is set on a fictional reality TV show in which the participants race for money, glory and all the women that would surely accompany flying around roads in absurdly fast cars with large structures exploding everywhere.
Red Dead Redemption Review

We cut Rockstar Games a lot of slack for the first outing of its open world series on the current gen of consoles. Grand Theft Auto IV was very good - much better than many other games on the market. But it was a little dour, lacked the sparkle and fun of previous games in the series and had us going bowling with our deadbeat cousin way too much.
Thankfully the DLC that followed improved things immeasurably. The Ballad of Gay Tony saw Rockstar return to form and provided that GTA silliness we know and love. How has Rockstar followed that fabulous release, is Red Dead Redemption merely just GTA on horseback, a collection of cowboy cliches and an open world that feels like a very empty one?
Forza Motorsport 3 Review
October 16th, 2009 / Send feedback » / by Harry

The root of all good drama is conflict. So I sit here trying to think of things I really hate about Forza Motorsport 3. This shouldn't be difficult, I'm a cynical old cove and I hate plenty of things even in my favourite games. But here I'm struggling.
The best I can come up with is this: just before you begin each race there's a view of your car from the front quarter, the engine revs and the car shudders as though it's about to fall apart.
This is a cheap and nasty effect and belongs in something that has the involvement of Travis Pastrana or Ken Block. So I guess that's something I do hate, but I can hardly mark a game down for something that occurs for two seconds.
