Konami has announced Silent Hill: Downpour for an autumn 2011 release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has released the first shots of the next iteration of its hugely popular horror series, Silent Hill: Downpour. The asset issue marks the first confirmation of the new game’s suffix, while KONAMI has also announced that acclaimed composer, Daniel Licht (Dexter), is producing the game’s eerie soundtrack

Silent Hill: Downpour marks the series’ return to PlayStation®3 and Xbox 360, and brings a completely original storyline which follows Murphy Pendleton, a convict stranded in the foggy, malevolent world of Silent Hill. Pendleton begins the game lost and alone in the woods on the outskirts of the fabled town, when his prison transport bus crashes...

What happens after this is up to the player, as Silent Hill: Downpour reveals a new, expansive environment that is similarly claustrophobic and where the player is never truly alone. The new assets demonstrate the highly detailed environments the game enjoys, a sneak preview of the town and two new areas: The Diner and The Devil’s Pit.

Konami has announced that a playable demo of Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 will be available today for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. The PC version can be downloaded on the official site.

The demo featuresa choice of four clubs: either Barcelona and Bayern Munich or Copa Libertadores pair Chivas Guadalajara and Internacional.

Meanwhile 2K Games has released a demo for NBA 2K11 on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Electronic Arts European boss Jens Uwe Intat says that FIFA will retain its dominance over the rival Pro Evo franchise this year.

While FIFA has been clearly better than the last few Pro Evo releases this year looks like it might be a closer fight.

We'll find out when FIFA 11 is released on October 1st (Sept 28th in US) and PES 2011 on October 8th.

Konami has announced the US release date for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow.

The game will launch on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on October 5th.

"Developed by Mercury Steam in collaboration with Kojima Productions, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow introduces a fresh and radical re-imagining of the vastly popular series with an epic tale of love, despair and hope, in a time when the dead walk among the living."

Konami has announced that Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 will arrive on Xbox 360, PC and PlayStation 3 on October 8th.

"We have been working on this, the ultimate evolution of PES to date, for a long time,so it is great to finally let people know when they can get their hands on it," said Konami's PES Euro Team Leader Jon Murphy, European PES Team Leader for Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH. "I think pretty much everyone knows that we have incorporated truly open gameplay in PES 2011, but it really has to be experienced for it to be appreciated."

"The Tokyo team has worked incredibly hard to create a game that is true to the series’ history, but takes it in new, exciting areas. Come October 8th, I hope that people will be lost in the game’s huge array of options and dazzled by its utterly compelling gameplay."

The PlayStation 2, Wii and PSP version will follow later in October.

Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima will be in London to sign copies of the PSP release Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker June 18th and 19th.
