Hitman & Mass Effect Movies Incoming
May 25th
20th Century Fox has signed up Spanish director Daniel Benmayor to make a sequel to the Hitman movie. Benmayor previously directed commercials for Sony PlayStation, Renault, Mercedes, Heineken and Samsung and has directed an action movie called Paintball.
You may wonder why such a terrible movie is getting a sequel, well it made a pot of money - some $100 million from an investment of $30 million.
So far there's no confirmation that Timothy Olyphant will reprise the role as the eponymous hero.
Meanwhile Legendary Pictures has acquired the rights to bring Mass Effect to the big screen. Mark Protosevich has been hired to write the script - his credits include I Am Legend, Thor, The Poseidon Adventure.
Silent Hill the Best Game Movie?
May 20th
Surely some mistake? No? It seems LoveFilm customers reckon the silver screen adaptation of Silent Hill is the best videogame to cinema translation.
The rest of the list isn't exactly inspiring as it features such releases as Angelina Jolie's two outings as Lara Croft and the Resident Evil, which at least gives me an excuse to post a picture of the gorgeous Milla Jovovich.
The top ten best computer adaptations are:
1. Silent Hill (2006) 15%
2. Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001) 14%
3. Resident Evil (2002) 13%
4. Hitman (2007) 10%
5. Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within (2001) 7%
6. Mortal Kombat (1995) 6%
7. Super Mario Bros. (1993) 5%
8. Resident Evil: Apocalypse (2004) 4%
9. Street Fighter (1994) 3%
10. Max Payne (2008) 2%
Other - 21%

Full story »Heavy Rain Movie Rights Sold
May 20th

Former New Line Productions heavyweights Bob Shaye and Michael Lynne have nabbed the movie rights to the PlayStation 3 exclusive Heavy Rain for their Unique Features production company.
Deadline reports that the duo were so fired up about Heavy Rain they used their own money to secure the rights rather than wait for big-studio backing.
Shaye and Lynne have a good history of backing winners, they gave the green light to Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy when other studios had said no.
