Rockstar Games says it is working on a fix for Red Dead Redemption to prevent problems of invisibility. Players have noticed characters and other items disappearing.

"If you’re having issues please email RDRSupportteam@rockstargames.com," Rockstar informed Kotaku. "We are also actively on the forums helping people with any questions they may have about the game. Thank you all for your support and we look forward to getting a fix out as quickly as soon as we can."

I didn't see anything like this while I was writing my Boomtown review, however at one point I did see a man floating several hundred feet in the air. I just assumed he was Jesus.
