Former New Line Productions heavyweights Bob Shaye and Michael Lynne have nabbed the movie rights to the PlayStation 3 exclusive Heavy Rain for their Unique Features production company.

Deadline reports that the duo were so fired up about Heavy Rain they used their own money to secure the rights rather than wait for big-studio backing.

Shaye and Lynne have a good history of backing winners, they gave the green light to Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy when other studios had said no.
