Crysis 2 Retains Chart Topping Status
Apr 4th

Last week was a good one for Electronic Arts. Crysis 2 remains at the top of the all formats chart with new entries Shift 2: Unleashed and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12 entering the chart in fourth and sixth place respectively.
A great week for 505 Games too with Zumba Fitness sliding straight into second position. The week was less good for SCEE/Evolution Studios though as Motorstorm Apocalypse could only muster a chart entry of 17th, understandable though given the delay and interrupted marketing push.

Black Ops Keeps Top Spot
Nov 22nd

Strong challenges from Assassins Creed: Brotherhood and Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit have failed to dislodge Call of Duty: Black Ops from the top of the latest UK chart.
The latest Harry Potter game scrapes in at #20, a position it doesn't even deserve due to it's crapitude. A full explanation for my use of that word coming up in a review of the PS3 version tomorrow.
But for now, on with the chart:

Nov 15th

According to the UK Interactive Entertainment Association (formerly ELSPA) the UK videogames industry saw its highest grossing week ever - an estimated £113.8 million.
The record breaking week is thanks to the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops and Microsoft Kinect.
Black Ops entered the chart in top place, meanwhile eight of Kinect's launch games made the top 40.
"The video games and interactive entertainment industry has already seen a great start to quarter 4 2010 and the success of Call of Duty: Black Ops and Microsoft’s Kinect adds to this," said the UKIE's Mike Rawlinson. "The positive sales figures of titles like Call of Duty: Black Ops, new hardware launches like Kinect, the emergence of casual/mobile games like Angry Birds and Cut the Rope and social networking games such as Farmville show that video games and other forms of interactive entertainment continue to be played by more people than ever – with 1 in 3 people in the UK now being gamers."
"Given the huge audiences for games on all formats, 2010 has been a year of unprecedented activity and focus. And with more video games than ever before being played, on an ever growing range of games consoles, PCs, mobile phones, mobile devices and internet enabled TVs, the industry has widened beyond all expectations and will continue to expand exponentially in 2011."

Football Manager 11 Tops UK Chart
Nov 8th

Sega/Sports Interactive's Football Manager 11 has jumped straight into the UK all-formats videogame chart at the top.
The news isn't so rosy for Activision's new James Bond game 007: Blood Stone. I doubt the publisher is too surprised - it will be expecting action game fans are saving their cash for Activision's Call of Duty release this evening.

Full story »Medal of Honor Tops UK Chart
Oct 18th

Despite lukewarm reviews (including our own) Medal of Honor has been popular with the buying public who have propelled the game to the top of the UK all-formats chart.
The result is that FIFA 11 has been pushed down into second place - but we expect to see this game topping the chart again before the year is out.
The second highest chart entry is Ubisoft's Just Dance 2 and that's likely to stick in the top twenty until next year.
